ESP32 kitchen scale: HX711, load cell and OLED
Open in the lab ▸Make my own copy
A load cell bends a tiny bit under weight, and its strain gauges change by a few microvolts. The HX711 amplifies that 128 times and turns it into a 24-bit number the ESP32 reads on two pins; the sketch scales it to grams and shows it on an OLED. The button zeroes the scale (tare) for a bowl. Click the load cell and change the weight. Open it and press Run: the sketch is inside the board (click the board, then Code). Every part, pin and resistor matches what you would build on a real breadboard; the guided build of the same name has the test sheet and hidden faults.
What is on the bench
6 parts, 16 wires, with a sketch (the program runs in the lab). Boards: ESP32 DevKit.

The project runs live inside the frame: readers can press buttons, turn knobs and read the meters.
