Fan and light on a 2-gang switch
A ceiling light (9 W) and a fan (40 W), each on its own rocker of one 2-gang switch. A 2-gang switch is two switches on one plate. The line comes in once and is looped (jumpered) from COM of rocker 1 to COM of rocker 2; each rocker then feeds its own load, and both loads return on the shared neutral.

Test procedure
Each test has an expected value and a pass range, like a factory test sheet:
- Both rockers on: lamp + fan
- Rocker 1 only: just the light
- Rocker 2 only: just the fan
- Both off
How it works
What it does: A ceiling light (9 W) and a fan (40 W), each on its own rocker of one 2-gang switch.
Build it (guided or ready-made), then run its test procedure below. Every test has an expected value and a pass range, just like a factory test sheet.
Background
The jumper between the two commons is the most common thing to forget: everything on the second rocker stays dead.
