ILI9341 2.8" TFT (SPI) (MSP2807, MSP2806, XPT2046) on the simulator's bench

Try it on the benchThe lab drops it on an empty bench and opens its datasheet card.

Typical part: 2.8" SPI TFT module, ILI9341 (LCDwiki MSP2807 with touch / MSP2806 without)

Pins

Ratings and limits

SupplyVCC 3.3–5 V into a 662K 3.3 V LDO; short J1 to bypass it for a 3.3 V supply (then VCC must be 3.3 V)
Logic3.3 V only (not 5 V tolerant): a 5 V Arduino needs a level shifter or dividers on CS, RESET, DC, SDI and SCK
Panel2.8" TN, 240 × 320, 65K colours (16-bit RGB565) or 262K (18-bit); active area 43.2 × 57.6 mm; module 50 × 86 mm
ControllerILI9341: 4-wire SPI (CS, DC, SCK, SDI, SDO); 172 KB frame memory (GRAM); MADCTL rotates and mirrors; normally-white panel
BacklightLED pin high = on (PWM dims it); about 45 mA at full brightness (lab estimate)
TouchXPT2046 resistive controller on its own SPI pins (T_CS, T_CLK, T_DIN, T_DO) with a pen IRQ; 12-bit raw readings
SPI speedwrites run far above the 10 MHz in the datasheet (40 MHz on an ESP32 is normal); reads need a slower clock
SD slotits own pins (SD_CS, SD_MOSI, SD_MISO, SD_SCK); not modelled in the lab

How to use it

A colour screen for ESP32 and Arduino projects. Wire VCC, GND, CS, DC, SDI, SCK and LED (RESET to a pin, or to 3.3 V), then use Adafruit_ILI9341 + Adafruit_GFX. Share SCK/SDI/SDO with the touch controller (T_CLK/T_DIN/T_DO) and give it its own T_CS.
