Ratings and limits
| Supply | VCC 3–5 V (3.3 V LDO on the board); about 47 mA acquiring, 37 mA tracking |
|---|---|
| UART | 3.3 V logic, 9600 baud 8N1 by default (change with UBX CFG-PRT or $PUBX,41) |
| Output | NMEA 0183: RMC, VTG, GGA, GSA, GSV, GLL; 1 Hz by default, up to 5 Hz (UBX CFG-RATE) |
| Time to first fix | cold 27 s, warm 27 s, hot 1 s (open sky); needs a clear view of the sky, indoors it may never fix |
| Backup | a small rechargeable cell keeps the satellite data: restart within about 4 h = hot start (seconds). It charges while the module is powered |
| PPS | the LED blinks once a second when there is a fix; this board does not bring the PPS signal out to the header |
How to use it
Wire TX to a microcontroller RX (and RX to TX if you want to configure it). Parse the sentences with TinyGPS++. Put the antenna under open sky.
