Arduino projects for students
Arduino projects you can build and test in your browser first, for free: every one runs in the lab with its sketch, so you can see it work, change the code and break it on purpose before you buy a single part.

Arduino traffic light with a pedestrian button
A crossing light as a state machine on an Arduino Uno: cars green until someone presses the button, then yellow, red with the…
Arduino reaction-time game on an I²C LCD
Wait for the red LED, then hit the button as fast as you can. A random 2–5 s wait, your time and your best on a 16×2 I²C LCD…
Arduino electronic dice on a 7-segment display
Hold the button and the display spins; let go and it throws 1 to 6. Seven pins drive the seven segments of a common-cathode…
Arduino Simon memory game: four LEDs, four buttons, a buzzer
The board shows a sequence of colours and you repeat it on the four buttons; every round adds one. One mistake and the buzzer…
Arduino automatic night light: LDR and a PWM LED
An LDR (light-dependent resistor) and a 10 kΩ resistor form a voltage divider: the brighter the room, the higher the reading on…
Arduino servo that follows a knob
Turn the potentiometer and the servo turns with it. analogRead gives 0 to 1023, map() turns that into 0 to 180°, and the Servo…
Arduino RGB colour mixer: three knobs, one RGB LED
Three potentiometers mix red, green and blue on one RGB LED, each colour through its own 220 Ω resistor. analogRead gives 0 to…
Sensors, displays and motors
Arduino parking sensor: HC-SR04, three LEDs and a beeper
An HC-SR04 ultrasonic sensor measures the gap. Over 60 cm: green and quiet; 20–60 cm: yellow and beeps that speed up as you get…
Arduino keypad door lock: 4×4 keypad, servo bolt and LCD
Type 2580 and # and a servo pulls the bolt open for 5 s; three wrong codes lock the keypad for 30 s. The keypad is scanned by…
Arduino stepper that follows a dial: pot, L298N and a NEMA 17
Turn the pot and a NEMA 17 stepper turns to the same angle, counting its steps (200 a turn) instead of using a sensor. An…
Arduino automatic plant watering: soil sensor, relay and pump
A capacitive soil sensor tells the Arduino how wet the soil is. Below 35 % it switches a relay module, and the relay runs a…
Arduino motion alarm: PIR sensor, siren and arm button
A PIR sensor sees warm bodies move. Press the button to arm the alarm; 5 seconds later it starts watching (time to leave the…
Arduino thermometer with an alarm: LM35, LCD and buzzer
An LM35 puts out 10 mV for every °C, so 380 mV is 38 °C. The Arduino reads it, shows the temperature on a 16×2 I²C LCD and…
Guided builds with test sheets
Step by step, with a test sheet that checks your build the way a factory test would, and hidden faults to find.

Traffic light with a pedestrian button
Guided build with a test sheet · 30 min. Cars green until someone presses the button; yellow, then walk, then a flashing walk…

Reaction-time game
Guided build with a test sheet · 30 min. Times how fast you press after the LED lights; shows your time and your best.

Electronic dice
Guided build with a test sheet · 25 min. Rolls a die on a 7-segment display.

Simon memory game
Guided build with a test sheet · 40 min. Shows a sequence of lights; you repeat it, one more each round.

Ultrasonic parking sensor
Guided build with a test sheet · 30 min. Beeps faster and turns red as something gets closer.

Keypad door lock
Guided build with a test sheet · 45 min. Opens a servo bolt for the right code; buzzes and locks out after wrong ones.

Stepper dial: a pot sets the angle
Guided build with a test sheet · 35 min. The motor shaft follows the pot, like a remote dial.
Capstone and thesis ideas
Bigger projects made by joining two or three of the ones above. Build each half in the lab first, then join them.
- Smart irrigation: The plant-watering project plus the water-tank level meter: water only when the soil is dry and the tank has water, and show both on an OLED.
- Solar-powered weather station: The ESP32 weather station on a small panel and a LiFePO4 cell, with the power meter showing what it draws day and night.
- Classroom safety monitor: The thermometer alarm and the motion alarm on one board: too hot, or someone in the lab after hours.
- Smart lock with a log: The keypad door lock plus an ESP32 that records every opening and every wrong code.
- Battery health tester: The DIY LiFePO4 pack with the INA219 power meter: discharge it at a set current and measure the real capacity.
- Kitchen helper: The kitchen scale and the thermocouple thermometer: weigh, then watch the oven temperature, with an alarm.
How to wire each module
L298N motor driver · Potentiometer · 4×4 keypad · 7-segment display · Active buzzer · HC-SR04 ultrasonic distance sensor · HC-SR501 pIR motion sensor · I2C LCD · LED · LM35 temperature sensor · Photoresistor · Potentiometer · Push button · Relay module · RGB LED · SG90 hobby servo · Soil moisture sensor
Why build it in the browser first
- No parts, no board and no install: it runs on a laptop or a phone.
- The sketch is real Arduino C++; it compiles in the Arduino IDE too.
- Parts behave like the real ones: a missing resistor burns the LED, a wrong pin does nothing.
- Share a link to your build with your teacher or groupmates.
